Course Summary
An overview of religion on the North American continent from the native American period to the present. The course is organized in five modules: (1) The Formative Years, (2) An Independent United States, (3) Special Areas. 3 semester hours of graduate credit.
Objectives
• Relate the story of Christianity in North America
• Identify characters, issues, events, and theological concepts found in the history of Christianity in North America
• Contrast the current state of Christianity in Canada, the United States, and Central America
Credit. Credit for the course requires a score of 70% or greater on three multiple choice examinations and two essays of equal value. A sample problem is given below.
The most challenging issue facing a person who would teach someone about Jesus Christ in the United States is (A) a language barrier, (B) government restrictions on freedom of speech and religion, (C) a cultural barrier, (D) general disinterest in religious differences.
