Course Summary
That you may have life
A study of the Fourth Gospel, including purpose, interpretation, authorship, literary composition, and general content. The course is organized in three modules, which are further divided into three units each. The modules are (1) Introduction to the Gospel of John, (2) John 1-10, and (3) John 11-21. 3 semester hours of graduate credit.
Course Objectives
1. Describe critical matters that pertain to the Fourth Gospel
2. Explain the text of the Fourth Gospel and its theological message
Credit for the course requires a score of 70% or greater on each of three multiple choice examinations, a research paper, and a book review of the required textbook. Each of these five graded elements is valued at 20%. A sample of the multiple choice problems is given below.
When interpreting the Gospel of John, the first matter to be investigated is its (A) social background, (B) literary nature, (C) historicity, (D) theology.
