Course Summary

A field-based course that encompasses planning, execution, and evaluation of mission activity

The course is designed for the Master of Divinity student. It can be adapted to fit (1) the formation or reformation of a local church missions committee, (2) the development of a new church, or (3) a projected individual or team mission effort. The study is divided into three modules: (1) The Christian and the World, (2) Mission Strategies, and (3) Undertaking Missions. Following completion of the third exam, the student shall undertake a project that is designed to bring the course to a synthesis. 3 semester hours of graduate credit. 

Objectives

● Evaluate the use of dialogue and service in missions

● Identify the strengths and weaknesses of cross-cultural evangelism

● Analyze the relationship between evangelism, education, worship, and counseling

Credit.  Credit for the course requires a score of 70% or greater on each of 3 module examinations and completion of a project. Exam problems are multiple-choice. A sample problem is below:

Sensing the need to evangelize all nations, the church of the 21st century should (A) meet in conference to decide the best methodology, (B) organize itself into small clusters, with each cluster targeting a given people group, (C) join other world religions in dialogue, (D) do none of the foregoing.

Resources

The student will be directed to either Internet sources or local resources available to everyone. A text-type book is available through the Electronic Collection without cost to the student.
