Course Summary

A study of the texts of Luke, Romans, Galatians, and the Epistles of John

Primary attention is given to historico-grammatical exegesis. The course is organized in five modules: (1) Luke, (2) Romans and Galatians, and (3) The Epistles of John.  3 undergraduate semester credits.  Credit not allowed with BRS 22.

Objectives

• Utilize the principles that govern the interpretation of a Gospel and select New Testament Epistles

• Relate the themes that are pertinent to the Gospel of Luke and select New Testament Epistles

• Decide how New Testament Scriptures apply today

Credit. Credit for the course requires a score of 70% or greater on three multiple-choice examinations, an exegesis, and an essay. Each graded elements is valued at 20% of the final grade. A sample exam problem is given below.

The specific occasion that called forth the letter to the Galatians was (A) disagreement between two women, (B) a list of questions presented to Paul from the Galatians, (C) a man who was attempting to take over the Galatian churches, (D) to repair damage done by heretical teachers.
